Online network shut down
TWO MEN have been jailed after they were caught running a huge illegal pharmacy network peddling Viagra online.
Akhil Bansal and Fred Mullinix were convicted on charges relating peddling millions of pills through more than 20 websites.
The court was told how Bansal, a Temple University graduate student, and his physician father, Brij Bhushan Bansal, currently in custody in India, headed the network. They obtained the drugs in India and sent them to the United States, where they were redistributed.
Mullinix's attorney, Steven Laver, said he planned to appeal.
US Attorney Patrick Meehan told press, after the verdict was announced, that the Internet had opened a door to bypass the safeguards that are in place to protect the public. Of course it also is a good way to avoid prescription taxes and cut profits to the drugs companies. More
