Dust busting

NASA is recruiting Internet volunteers to help search for rare grains of 'submicroscopic dust' that was collected a from the comet Wild 2.

The space agency said that it needs volunteers to spend about 30,000 hours looking at minuscule particles on a web-based microscope to identify traces of interstellar dust collected by the 'Stardust' spacecraft. Stardust is expected to return to Earth over the weekend and if it doesn't crash, it will have a fair bit of dust to have a look at.

Each internet scanner will be shown a digital picture of a sample star dust and have to find the bits of interstellar dust. The prize will be to name the dust grains that they find. More here.
