Drives Have No Name

Win XP Pro sp2

Here is what the problem is, when I go to My Computer there is a drive that has no name, but if you highlight it then it will show up correct as long as it is highlighted. Also if you open the drive all folders inside have no names either unless they are highlighted. The drive is a 200 gig usb drive. I have tried it on another computer with XP and all shows up fine.

If I go into My Network Places and view another computer on the network that is running XP the same thing happens. Although I can look from the affected computer and I can see the drive name on the one I started with.

Confused yet......well all is ok when viewing either xp system or connecting the usb drive to the win2k system or when looking at any drive or folder on W2k from the first computer.

So it seems as though only one computer has the problem.

Help will be real nice.....as I really don't want to reinstall. I tried system restore and it did not work.

looks like ya need to go into computer management in control panel and go to disk management and change or ASSIGNE a dirive name.
Just a thought.
I know ya can change the name and letter OR no name too.
Look around in there.
