Elpida presents its first DDR3 memory chip
Elpida today announced its next-generation DDR3 SDRAM memory chips for future notebooks, desktop PCs and servers. The new DDR3 architecture will feature a high-speed data transfer of up to 1333MHz, which is double the speed of the current DDR2 architecture in volume production. The company has already developed a 512 Megabit part but plans to develop higher capacity 1 Gigabit and 2 Gigabit chips. The new DDR3 architecture keeps the low-voltage operation benefits of the DDR2 architecture but significantly boosts the speed.
