Microsoft NT4 support ends soon, up to a point
You'll have to pay, AOK?

W2K NEWS said that Microsoft will end Extended Support for Windows NT 4 from the 31st of December this year.

That means, the site reckons, you'd better start thinking seriously what youre going to do. It wil sell you an even more extended support package to the 31st of December 2006 if you pay up for a custom support package.

You know it makes sense.

This is probably due to a) customer demand, or b) customer indifference, as in the INQ's view Microsoft's strategy on operating systems started to fall into the void quite some years back, although it took large corporations quite a while to realise that.

But of course, Windows 2003 Server has gone into RC1 (release candidate one) phase, and Microsoft would dearly love corporations to try this out big time. Many more details on the W2K News web site, W2K News site.
