pci.sys error?
I've bought a new pc.
It has XP Home on it and I want to format it and install XP Pro on instead.
I put the cd in boot from it, it starts loading then it stops and says...

pci.sys error
address F853C0BF
base at F85335000
date stamp 3B7D855C

Anyone got any ideas on what the problem could be?
I do not think its a hardware problem as there is already a OS installed, which gives no faults in hardware devices.

Let me know if you need the pc specs.
I bought it from Aldi last week its a Medion.

A few things to try:
If it's a recent DFI mobo in that computer, use a slipstreamed SP2 XP Professional, especially if the mobo has pci-express slots.
If it's no DFI,check your ram...could also be a bad ram slot...

I had a similar error when I took out and replaced a DIMM memory on a m/b that's very sensitive to taking out memory. A few reboots into safe mode fixed everything.

This will sound stupid, but here goes. Did you delete the partition and make new before starting the load? I get error messages when reloading if I don't use same disk originally loaded from. When they pop up I just reboot, delete partition...create partition and all goes well.
