RAMBUS is better at the moment ... but more expensive. DDR 400 which is out soon will surpass it though

Intel's proprietary evil RAMBUS techinically is "better" but since its proprietary its more expensive. Things that are proprietary never last. Intel has tried to make things standard inthe past but eventually move on from it. Apple is the only one that comes to mind where it has worked. Even Intel has started making mobo that support DDR instead of RAMBUS. DDR is the next-gen memory; RAMBUS will be gone before yuo know it.
