I just recently seen on TechTv the other night about a unit that you plug in the wall and it will send your broadband connection using the AC house wires. They said the transfer rate is better than regular wireless. It was like $70 or something, but now that I goto their site I see it's way behind in the shows. Must have something to do with the big change around with the show and it's crew.

Where can I buy this new product that I seen. I'm thinking about sharing it with the people next door. :P

Unless it's greatly changed since I last looked into it (ethernet over power lines) I think you are far better served going wireless KC. 802.11g is pretty darn quick with transfer rates of 54mbps - had a couple of laptops at my old job that had the 'g' cards in em (the back end was likewise) and they moved pretty darn quick - comparable to my LAN action

IMHO

And oh - by the way - can I move next door too? dialup is killing me

I run wireless G at my house and it's way faster then then running thru the outlests in my house. Don't go that route. If it was any good you would've seen it pushed harder I never have seen it in any store in our area.

@ KC :

You _might_ find something of interest over here : Devolo

Quote:
Aachen, September 2, 2003 - The devolo AG, based in Aachen, Germany, is extending its MicroLink dLAN
(direct Local Area Network) line of products for PC-networking via mains power circuits: The latest HomePlug
adapter features a wireless-network interface. MicroLink dLAN Wireless closes the gap to the WLAN world and
bypasses the problem of walls and ceilings that block signals. The space-saving device is available from mid
October and will cost 169.90 Euro.
