Windows Media Player 10 Public Beta Build 3473

Microsoft is preparing to release a public preview of Windows Media Player 10 beta today. The update (due at 12noon EST) will sport the much talked about new GUI and enhancements for portable media players. WMP10 is due to be released later this year and will be included with Windows Media Center 2005.

Testers of Windows Media Center 2005 were treated to an early alpha copy of WMP10 for compatability reasons in the first round beta. Beta 2 of MCE 2005 is set to include the updated WMP10. MCE 2005 Beta 2 is due within 2 weeks.

Glad to see one of the wishes I had is now fulfilled.

1. Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) playback support
2. mp3PRO playback support
3. Keep Music Library organized as in iTunes for Windows
4. Smart split as in MusicMatch JukeBox
5. Option to automatically search and remove non linking files
6. Browse for the file --- Possible from WMP10 Build 3473
7. Windows Media Audio 9 Professional Encoding
8. Ogg Vorbis playback support
