Got this when going there : Thank you for your interest in Windows Update
Windows Update is the online extension of Windows that helps you get the most out of your computer.
The latest version of Windows Update is available on computers that are running Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 2000 (except Windows 2000 Datacenter Server), Windows XP, and the Windows Server 2003 family.

It happens here from time to time where I'll get that same message... Give it a little while... It comes back.

This message is showed when MS dont regconize your O.S. Itīs usually happens when you are under a firewall or when you try to connect on windows update server using a proxy. To solve this problem disable your proxy on tools --> internet options --> connections --> lan config (on i.e.) or disable your firewall. Note that I am talking about 3rd part firewalls (norton in example), not built in XP firewall.

It appears to be intermittant, i had 2 machines setting up earlier- 1 was fine the second repeatedly got that message for an hour or so then was fine. Maybe it is because they are swapping\have swapped servers.

As has been said, give it a while and try again. I get that message late at night sometimes.
