I have always kept this product up to date etc.

A few days back a horrible virus got into my system, this damn b$%$%$ (started deleting stuff and modifying my system etc )

Norton didn't detect it.

Because my system was playing up, I installed another antivirus (pc-cillin and it detected a nasty virus. I restarted my computer again, but by then there was nothing that I could do, my system folder including fonts management had been totally screwed....

I couldnt read anything, all the fonts had been changed to strange shapes, I could not access any program or file ?????

My only option was to do a complete format and back up ??

I have lost lots of stuff etc because of Norton's inability to find/detect viruses properly.

I have been doing a lot of changes etc lately, and my back up image was not up to date (1 month old)...

So lots of things have gone forever, including email addresses, internet links, programs, settings etc etc...

I am not a happy man at all

I thought I would let you guys know so that I could vent my frustrations off my chest

Oh well,

here's to a lot of work !!!!

I won't be using Norton products again.....

Few things worse than what you've gone through here, Italiano. Sorry to hear it. I have relied on Norton for a numger o years. Be interesting to see reactions to your experience from other B1 memgers.

Lesson taken, thought. I just made a new back up image!

I am really sad to hear what happened also italiano.

I also am with Keru and have changed to NOD32 and I got rid of McAfee and it was the best move that I could have made.

Now I know there are going to be others that feel MUCH different than you and I and that is what I like about this place we all can feel different and still get along

Sorry about your troubles but that teachs us all to backup, backup, backup

This reminds me of when I learned the "backup" method. A company that I work for never told me that the backup wasn't happening anymore. So, one day I was doing something to the server, it required a restart, and I restarted, and the partition tables became corrupt. Assuming, that they still had a backup, I didn't think anything of it. Then they told me, it hadn't been backing up....for 3 MONTHS!!!! Ya, that sucked.

As for Norton, i'm always having problems with it.
