IN A TYPICALLY DEFIANT move by the warez scene, no sooner does the US Department of Justice manage to shut down a site, it simply pops up somewhere else. Isonews had its collar felt yesterday with the DoJ promising to use the site to preach an anti-piracy message. The site simply upped and moved to the ironically named StoleMy.Com.
It highlights the problem faced by the law enforcement community in trying to stop the warez scene. Justice moves at a crawl in comparison with the Net savvy crews who operate such sites.
The warez community has simply learned from the way that David Rocci was taken down and it's doubtful they'll be stupid enough to do the same things he did. In the eyes of many crews, his big mistake was selling Xbox mod chips instead of just advertising them.
The Isonews site is effectively still going and, despite some concern from various members on its forums, seems certain that it will carry on. Even if the DoJ did manage to take the whole thing down, new location and all, it's not like there's a shortage of warez sites for the former denizens to visit. µ
