AFAIK - there is no upgrade path for WinMe to Windows 2000
Could be because Windows 2000 came out before WinMe - I am really not sure

That exactly what's the reason. Windows 2000 came before Windows ME. So you cannot downgrade from Windows ME to Windows 2000. The thing is you cannot upgrade from Windows 2000 to Windows ME either, cos it is a different kernal.

that's interesting dude. how did you install? i know (as i said before, u can't use the windows 2000 cd to upgrade. but did u boot from the cd and install it while ME was there? um, prolly the program files folder may have been ?uckered by that way.

If that is true - I suggest you save what you can on another partition then format c:\ and
do a clean install of W2K.

Course that is just my 2 cents worth.
