networking software

hi all
just brought a laptop but i want to conect it to my pc through the lan connector
what software is best for this

as i would be tranfering file from one to the other

If I am not mistaken, if you will check add/remove programs under windows components you will find a program called direct connect, you might want to try this first? It's already paid for.

Hmmm, if you don't have a hub or switch and they both have netcards try using a crossover cable

If you are really adventurous and have the supplies it's probably cheaper to make your own, see here for a diagram:

An easy way to network,is to use a USB network cable just plug it in.Very easy
