hi ,

i had some video files which are larger than 700mb and needed to buy some 90min CDRs. so today i bought 5 CDRs of Melody 32x

99min CDRs. unlike in other normal CDRs, in here i saw some instructions on how to burn these CDRs. i got afraid of its

warning, so was worried cos if i am unlucky: it doesn't end up with a coaster but will end up with a mal-function of the CD

burner. so i am gonna tell you what was exactly written inside the case

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skill for 90/99min CD-Record
* Create a new file, Example: ISO (CD-ROM), remember, don't use wizard mode.
* Choose File > Preferences > General > Status Bar, set 'Yellow Marker': 89min 50sec, and set 'Red Marker': 98min 50sec.
* Expert Features > Enable Over burn, Disk at Once. Set maximum CD length: 99min 0sec.
* Put data or file to windows, watch under color line, don't over marker.
* When you check everything ok, click File > Write CD, and be sure to set the two following functions: set mark Finalize CD, and set Write method: Disk At Once (DAO/96)
* Press Write, the screen will show "CD length not enough" and next will show "are you sure you want to over burn?"
* click "Yes"
Warning!! Over burn may result in mal-function of the writer and some of the CD-ROMs may not be able to read the content of the CD over 95min.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

honestly i got really scared after reading that warning

so these are my question guys, please

do i really wanna follow those instructions? cos, suppose i download the latest version of Nero Burning ROM and continue

burning just like the 700mb CDs i used to burn before, is that alright? i meant, don't Nero Burning ROM detect the 99min CDR

as a 99min CDR and let me to add stuff till upto 870mb?
finally, how come the CD burner gets mal-functioned?

btw, are all those instructions just bullcrap for n00bs and try to scare us?, so then i just treat the 99min CDR same as the

80min CDRs and continue burning and hope the CD-Burner will not get mal-functioned.

i am confused atm. i dunno if my question was clear. sorry i just explained what was running in my head atm. hope you guys

got what i meant

troubled

please gimme your ideas,
thank you...

I hope you got brave and tried it out... overburning's really not scary. Although losing a burner might be.. hope that didn't happen to you.

As far as coasters go, if you get enough of them, with a drill and few s-hooks you could have yourself a real unique room divider! Glue a stack of them together - instant candleholder.

well if you just bought it and if it breaks while overburning, exchange it for a new one.

Don't worry about having coasters. I now know what everyone is getting for Christmas...candle holders. I was wondering what to do with all those Cd's. I think I might have enough for that wall divider.
