richardc2000 is on a distinguished road
You may have had a program registered to open/view jpg's but you later uninstalled it. The result is no dDEFAULT VIEWER. What would you like to view them? I use IRFANVIEW, free from _http://www.irfanview.com Others like other programs - just installing one of them should solve your problem. YOu could go into Control Panel/ Folder Options/ Files Types
and look for athe extension in question ( add it if it is not there) and browse the what you wish to view future jpg files.

chuckman45,

You can also set the file associations manually to open with Internet Explorer or other such program:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To Change a File Association

Right-click on the icon of the file you want to open, and then click Open With.
If there is only one program associated with this filetype, Open With is displayed and you can skip to step 3. If there is more than one program associated with this filetype, Open With expand to give you a choice of programs to open this file in. There is also the Choose Program option in the expanded menu, click Choose Program to open Open With.
In Open With you can select a program to open the current file. Select the Always use this program to open these files option to make this program the default to open when you double-click this type of file in the future. If you do not want to make this the default program that opens, leave the option empty.
Click OK and the file opens in the program you chose.

To Edit a File Association

Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Click the View All Control Panel Options link, if present.
Double-click Folder Options.
Click the File Types tab.
Click the file type whose association you want to change, and then click Advanced.
Click the action you want to edit, and then click Edit.
Edit the file association as necessary, and then click OK.

To Restore Default File Associations

Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Click the View All Control Panel Options link, if present.
Double-click Folder Options.
Click the File Types tab.
Click the file type whose association you want to restore, and then click Restore.

NOTE: This option is only available if the default value has been changed.
When a file association is changed, the original association is stored in the registry to provide the ability to undo the change. If this has happened, the file information on the File Types tab in the Folder Options tool includes a Restore option in place of the Advanced option. Only the initial file association can be restored. This means that if a file association is changed three times, the Restore option only restores the original file association
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope this helps some...

If you don't get the "open with" option on the right click menu, left click the file one time to highlight it then hold down the shift key while right clicking.

Hey DaveH

Thanks for this trick,

You just save my life

This trick works fine because in the right click option, I don't have the install option and now I have it

Really good to install a program from the .inf file

Thanks again

DaveH--that is a useful tip!

I agree with RichardC2000, Irfan View is a great little (free!) program --it uses minimal memory and is very quick--as long as you stick with the earlier version--I use IrfanView 32 version 3.00--it's great and opens almost everything instantly, from .gifs to .psd (photoshop) images plus mpg, wav, photo cds etc
