Asustek Computer will officially cut into the 16:9 ratio notebook market in the second half of 2008. In order to preserve profits, the company will initially only push 15.6-inch models in Europe and the US. The first wave of launches will start in July in the US, according to industry sources.
Currently, 16:9 15.6-inch panel suppliers include Taiwan-based AUO, Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO), and Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) and Korea-based LG. Korea-based Samsung will also start to supply 15.6-inch panels in the second half of this year, noted the sources
