Dvd Ripper/burner Newbie Needs Help

What do you do with a VOB file?

Can you burn it to a dvd? I've been using DVDXCopy and Xpress and that works ok.

But using DVD Dycrypter or AnyDVD and then trying to burn with Instant DVD gives me nothing. What do you do with VOB filesw on the HD which seem to me to be perfect copies of the DVD. Obviouslyk, I own the DVD's and am making back up copies for my own use.

One thing that you can do with VOB files is convert them into a DivX, Xvid, AVI, etc. But you also have to extract the audio stream from them...

Thsnks Billybob. Looking into it now. Somehow I thought it would be easy using DVD Decryter or AnyDVD plus Pinnacle Instant Copy.
DVD Copy X and Xpress are good, but there are a couple disadvantages with each flavor of this software.

If you still have the IFO files they can be edited with an IFOEditor and then the movie can be burnt back to a dvdr disk to watch the film. You can seperate them into respective audio and video streams and use DVD Authoring software to burn it back to dvd, or you can then multiplex the streams, split the resulting file into sections and burn them as vcd's.

It all depends what you are trying to do

Thanks DoG. This is my first plung into making a back up copy of a DVD movie. My biggest problem was not knowing the vocabulary, which thanks to copious FAQ reading is coming. It's the old story: If you can figure out how to pose a question, you can figure out the answer.

Use DVD decrypter and DVD shrink myself. Getting great results.
