Recently I've grown very fondly of the master's multiboot CD's but I think that we should try and take that to the next level now to multiboot DVD's and I'm sure there are others out there just like me interested in this, and I'm nearly positive I'm not the only one on B1 that has a dvd burner. So what do you guys think can it be done? Just imagine having all different windows, and office, and miscellaneous crap on 1 DVD!!

From a technical point of view its certainly possible. I know MSDN DVDs often have a few different windows versions on one disk, and a boot menu to select the installation program to run. I imagine the proccess of creating multiboot DVDs is very similar to creating standard multiboot cds.

The thing is at the moment all versions of winxp can fit on a single CD (with optimisation). Perhaps theres not much of an advantage going to DVD-R media. An immediate disadvantage is that not everyone has a burner. The concept of an all in one DVD with office, and every important program on it might be interesting tho.

I did manage to get hold of a Windows 22 in 1 multiboot DVD made by a korean chap- unfortunately he messed up the menu's so badly it was impossible to use it via the windows GUI- you had to browse to each folder to initiate setup.

Lot and lots of HD space needed. (NTFS)
CD Shell (formerly BootScriptor) should work.
CDImage works good for DVD's. (2.47)
AutoPlay Media Studio for GUI work. (4.0.0.3)

I have started a DVD to test this already.
It Has Windows XP Eval,Gold,SP1,SP1a all versions. (Home,Pro,VLK)
Waiting on SP2 now. The Win PE's,SP's,Boot floppys ect. too.
Few misc. tools. So far its 6+GIG before CDImage and 1.4 GIG after.

I plan on putting Win2003 on this DVD also.

The real work is going to be setting up CD Shell and the GUI.

I have a bud @ work that has a burnner. So I'll have to RAR and burn
reg. CD's.

I was thinking like have All of the different version of XP, 2003, 2000, Windows 9x, WinPE Newest Version of Office and all the other fun crap (WinRAR, DivX, Nero...etc)
I think if we spark enough interest to ppl maybe this is something we can get to take off, I have pretty much all the applications to put on a DVD but I don't know how to create the multiboot cds/dvds or how to use the boot scriptor, so if anyone wants to help it'd be appreciated.

HDD Space is not a problem when you have 300GB (However I'm in the process of freeing some up as we speak damn that modded X-BOX )

The only problem would be the DL/UL of 4+ GIG's.
OMG,That would be like 70 to 80 hours on a cable connection.

Dialup ???

I can d/l 4GB in 3-4 hours tops, however uploading I can do 1GB in about 10hours, so yeah u/l would take a fair chunk of time, thats why alot of ppl u/l to the newsgroups, much faster for d/l for everyone, and no waiting in line

Also there's some program out there called Balder's Multiboot V0.88 it was posted on his site but is no longer there, since it was freeware and they are making it a commericial application, anyone on the board got it?

Well guys I started my first build of my super DVD today, and will hopefully have some screenshots up sometime today, however I'm currently looking for a volunteer to make a autorun menu to make it look pretty so if someone is willing to volunteer it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thx,
Dijital
