Hi,

my computer is having problems that started when I reinstalled win 98se. Reinstalling fixed a number of problems but created 82 new problems, (It actually created a lot more, but Norton Utilities fixed all but 82). The remaining problems are related to MS Office XP which I uninstalled and reinstalled (problems still there). Norton Utilities gives me this message:

Invalid ActiveX/COM Entries (82 problems)
the activeX/com sections of your windows registry contain one or more invalid entries.

An example of one of the problems is:

Missing or invalid key: "Access.Shortcut.Form.1\shell\datasheet\comman d"
the key, "Access.Shortcut.Form.1\shell\datasheet\comman d" refers to an invalid command entry,
"C\:\MSOFFICE\ACCESS\MSACCESS.EXE/SHELLSYSTEM [OpenForm" %1",3]."

Any ideas on how to fix this? I am not super experienced with changing the registry so give me simple instructions so I don't blow myself up.

Thanks for your time and effort!

You might wanna try to uninstall Office XP, and then clean/repair the registry. It will clean all mess Office left, and after a reinstall it should works again. Uhm, it usually does . . .

Be sure to manualy remove any office files that might be left in the Program Files flder, or else the clean may fail.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

You know, and I might be wrong. But I thought Office XP wouldn't run on 98.
