Hello All~

For some reason, it takes me over 1 minute to load up the Add/Remove Programs List... After loading it up the first time, any other time will take a split second to load up... But why is it taking so long the first time?

I have a P4 2.53Ghz , 1 Gig Rambus Ram (1066), Running Windows XP SP-1 (with all Critical Updates installed).

Is anyone else experiencing this type of behavior?

Thanks for your help as usual!

Hey Bads,

I did install the Q815411_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU patch, thinking that would help me out a little bit - but - it apparently did nothing to help. It was making so many of my other applications run a bit slower than before. So I removed it the other day.

I have the same problem. If i want to uninstall something or change windows components i start up add and remove programs and leave it for around a minute- it's usually finished reading the registy by then, XPsp1, P4 2.53, 1gb ddr ram with all critical updates.

It takes mine around 20 seconds to load, XP Pro. I only have a p3 1 gig with 512 ram and (2) 40 gig hard drives.
I've been using add remove plus and it loads in just a few seconds.

Do you guys think it's only a P4 issue?

Have you tried to clean the registery? I use RegScrabXP and
no problem with Add/Remove 2seconds maybe loads up.
May be it's not the solution, but It's not because of P4 I think.

P4 3.06GHz 1G RAM WinXP Pro.

Yeap, when I do clean Install of XP, which probably happend last time 6-7 month ago,
I use Regcleaner & RegScrabXP then defragment my C: then, use Bootvis from Microsoft to make
XP boot faster, I suppose you know this prog. Then create Image of c: with PQ ImageDrive.

Usually I clean up XP with Regcleaner & RegScrabXP every week or so. But one thing is that, even
before cleaning up I don't remember Add/Remove loading for too long, may be a bit, like 4seconds.

To make PC work faster: do Defragment of C: then All reg leaning, then Bootvis. that is it.
I also think it dependce of Soft you are installing, cause couple of weeks ago, my PC started
Shutdown very slowly, I couldn't do anything and anyway I wanted to restore image, so I did and
now is flying like a charm.
