Maximum OverDrive
I have just built the following system and am looking to boost it's performance.

THERMALTAKE XASERII WINDOWED CASE: 5 80 CFM QUITE 21DB FANS
GIGABYTE VAXP MOTHERBOARD 400MHZ BUS
3X 512MB PC3200 CASE 2 RAM, WITH COPPER HEAT SINKS
AMD 2200 CPU W/VOLCANO 9 AUTO ADJUSTABLE FAN
2X MAXTOR 80 GIG DRIVES
AUDIGY2 PLATMIUM SOUNCARD
KLIPSCH PRO MEDIA 5.1 SPEAKERS AND SUBWOOFER
ATI 9700 PRO VIDEO CARD WITH THERMALTAKES REPLACEMENT HEATSINK AND FAN COMBO
40X24X28 BURNER
56XCDRom
ATA 133 ROUND DRIVE CABLES
FAN CONTROL UNIT
AUDIOGY2 CONTROL UNIT
MS IFARED INTEL/EXPLORER MOUSE
MS KEYBOARD
SAITEK X45 JOYSTICKS
WINDOWS XPPRO OS

AS CONFIGURED, THE CPU TEMP RUNS AN AVERAGE OF 80 TO 84 DEGREES, THJIS IS AN ECREDIBLE DROP FROM MY 1.4 THUNDERBIRD AND GEFORCE SETUP IN A REGULAR CASE THAT RAN AT 145 AVERAGE DEGREES.

I DESIGEND THIS SYUSTEM TO BE OVERCLOCKED, BUT HAVE NOT CHANGED ANY SETTINGS. THE BIOS HAS A BUILT IN OVERCLOCKING SECTION FOR VIDEO, RAM AND CPU VOLTAGE AND MULTIPLIERS.

I STILL FEEL I DO NOT HAVE THE PERFORMACE I SHOULD WITH THIS SETUP.
BF1942 was laggy but cleared after last patch, Doom 3 averaged 29fps with all settings maxed, Unreal2 ran smooth maxed but crashed several times due to eax with the sudigy2 card. I need to find the proper registry settings for the ati 9700 pro tweaks, cas 2 tweaks for the pc3200 ram chips, and AMD over clocking :
thx for any help......

Be careful with the caps lock.

Have you bechmarked with 3DMark yet? If not, d/l it and see what kind of score you get, it would be a good starting point for comparison. For tweaking the video card, go to http://www.rage3d.com and download their tweaking utililty, it can tweak most of the settings for the ATI card. Other than that, make sure your bios settings are right. I'm sure other people here can give you pointers on that..... time for me to eat and go to work.
