Guys help me out here please, I'm lost...
I have a new Siemens P4 system witn a Maxtor 40 Gb ATA133 drive. Installation went fine, and after a few days suddenly I was unable to login to WinXP. The system booted fine to the logon screen, but after login on (b4 the desktop appears) after few minutes an error comes up that there is a problem with checking the WPA system.
Even though extensive testing of the drive did not come up with a single fault I had the drive replaced. But after restoring the image the exact same problem occured. That suck, "software you might say".
So I installed the drive in another system, installed WinXP clean, and right after installation the same problem occured.
So, bad vibes in the building I thought, lets take this one home and test it. So, I put a working installation of my own system on the disk, and again: same problem.
What the hell am I doing wrong? Is Maxtor teaming up with M$ and have thy installed a WPA checking chip or something?
But seriously, is there something I should know about ATA133 drives that causes this problem? Any input is greatly appreciated.
