Considering the bad press it has been getting and the fact that DX9 games are not really available yet with only new Radeons currently able to use the new functionality, I have been holding off installing it.
So, I am wondering how everyone that has installed it feels about DX9. Any horror stories? I have heard that it was pretty buggy and really should still be considered betaware. Any thoughts?

I've added it and in terms of the games I use (not murder, death, kill) everything seems to be fine with it. In fact I have not really noticed a great deal of difference after upgrading.
Any way there you go.

Only ONE post? Come on guys, I know tons of you have installed it. The ex lead developer of DX claims it is really bad and really should be considered alpha code! Of course, I don't know what the story is about WHY he is an EX MS employee, but there must be some concern there because MS has not denied his claim. *shrugs* I don't know. I just wanted several opinions before I install it, but then considering it has not been available on Windows update should say something. Since no DX9 games will be out for a while, I think I will just wait to install it until I absolutely NEED it.

there's a conflict with directplay, msn / windows messenger, and the internet connection sharing / firewall service that leads to messenger trying to create a new firewall rule on some systems every 30 seconds, causing messenger to freeze till it's done, happened to me till i restored DX8, so if I were you I'd wait till they get that patched if you use messenger

I just ordered a Radeon 9500 pro GFX board. Looking forward to using DX9 with it, but I'm gonna wait until atleast DX9a is out or maybe even DX9.1. Thanks guys.
