New nvidia driver

i have just installed the new 40.72 drivers from nvidia site after instalation when i get to the tab in properties i only get one,when i click the tab the propeties box just dissapears and i end up back at the desktop.How do i get thses to work like they are supposed to?

did you have 30.xx drivers installed before you upgraded?

yes i had the 30.?? before that

a lot of people had problems updating from 30x to 40x drivers, aparently some files get left behind from the 30x drivers and it causes problems, either manually remove all the 30.x files that may be there or find a util to do it, then reinstall the 40x drivers, that should work
