CpuIdle lowers the CPU temperature by disabling it when not needed. This prolongs the CPU life (a decrease by 10°C doubles the life span) and cuts power consumption. By decreasing power consumption it increases the time before your laptop battery goes dead. Unlike normal power management CpuIdle is active all the time and works even when you're actively using your computer.CpuIdle runs an HLT command in an idle-priority thread under Windows 95. This allows modern microprocessors to save power and stay cool. It helps to create a more stable system when CPU temperature is an issue with overclocking. CpuIdle will by default enable the following performance-increasing features if available: write allocation; no locking; auto HLT (AHD), low power on AHD, and suspend on HLT; and weak ordering.
