Quick question to the group,
When I am booting to XP on my machine the screen will just be black and the machine is locked up. Sometimes it just takes it boots up fine other times it might take up to ten hard boots.
Any Ideas?
What do you do once you have rebooted? Run chkdsk or sfc or look in device manager - what? Are all the cards/cables/jumpers firmly in place?
Is heat a problem? Are you shutting down correctly?
When you write "boot to" I am assuming that you have other operating systems installed and you have no problems when you boot to them?
How far does it get in the boot? When you turn it on does it post correctly and then go to a blank screen, or does it get to the start of the OS loader and then hang?
I am running a single operating system, have resaeted all the cards, jumpers are fine, and when it does hang in the boot I get the black screen. After this I have to do a hard reset and I get the boot option screen and it will sometime just hang there.
Thanks,
Eddie
