Just done a sleepstream of SP1 into my copy of XP Professional (Corp), and just for fun, installed it with the old 'PCFKW'.......... serial. To my complete suprise, this was not only accepted during the install (something that dosen't happen if you do this on an already installed copy), but appears to work perfectly with everything once the install is complete. I have even done Windows update and nothing bad has happened (yet). No sign of WPA either.

Am I just extremely lucky? Is this a loophole? or am I in for a suprise later.

Anyone else noticed this?

Actually, this might no be so strange. A thread from around the time SP1 went final determined (I think Epyx did it) that the 'PCFKW' serial was not the second blacklisted key since the product ID after installation with this key did not match the one given by M$. So, if its not blacklisted it should work fine to install SP1 (but I would still stay away from M$'s windows update site).

There is a set of SP1 Corp files winBeta made them.

SP1 Corpfiles - The revenge - By WinBeta

Just when you thought we were done with Service Pack 1 for XP, Think again!
WiNBETA proudly presents SP1-Corpfiles!

As the name suggests, this release is the updated set of corpfiles that you have all come to know and love.

They have been specially formulated with new and updated files, fresh from the WiNBETA kitchens. In truth, if you already have an ISO with the corpfiles, or a real VLK edition of XP, these are of no use to you.

What situation you would want to use these:

1) You have a Pre-slipstreamed ISO of Windows XP Professional RETAIL that wants you to activate.

2) that's it. all previous 'corp' or VLK versions will upgrade or slipstream correctly, producing the same result as these files

so to sum it all up so there is no confusion. if you have a regular XP Pro edition that needs activation you can do 2 things.

1) Apply the OLD corpfiles to your iso then slipstream. result = Corp edition slipstreamed.

2) Slipstream first, then apply the NEW corpfiles. result = Corp edition slipstreamed.

any deviation from this order will render your new iso useless.

Remember the corpfiles are not an after install crack! They only can be used before you install, on your ISO.

On a reflexive note: The true benefit of these files will not be realized until Microsoft releases CDs/ISO's that are pre-slipstreamed.
