iPods, iPhones to Automatically Turn Down the Volume

Early last year Apple modified the software (http://technologyexpert.blogspot.com...ts-in-new.html) on their iPods to reduce the maximum playable volume. While this had already been done in France (due to French law), it was new to the United States. At the same time, Apple had been slapped with a lawsuit (http://technologyexpert.blogspot.com...d-hearing.html) over iPod-produced hearing loss in February of that year. Thus, this move can be seen as proactive: protection against future lawsuits.
