Have you checked to see if there is an update for your bios??, and have you moved the ram around to different slots??

i heard that AMD motherboards have a big problem with RAM copmbinations. see if 32mb and 128mb is a valid combination in your m/board booklet.
also see if pc133 is compatible (although pc133 will work in 100mhz if the m/board doesn't support 133mhz)

mmm, you got 64mb as total first when u tried,
and now u got 96mb by a different combination
pretty much strange,
may be u have already tried this,
but i dunno, so have you tried the 128mb ram chip with another computer or in the shop?
cos there may be a defect in the ram chip too?
who knows

This is a standard problem with old MB's. You will never see that module as 128MB because it has 32x4 Mb modules and your chipset can only work with 16x8 Mb modules. Try KingMax.

On this Asus 5pa motherboard i have flashed the bios to latest bios, i have exchanged the pc133 sdram 128 mb block to a new one.
The manual says that it can take
double - single sided sdram in 8 16 32 64 128 and 256 mb ram blocks,
the pc works perfectly but only shows 64mb of the 128 ram block.somebody please help .jtk

jtk: The answer above says it all. Your motherboard probably can't see it as a 128mb stick. Try getting 2 old 64mb memory sticks and see what it does

The problem is the speed of the ram. The system is not seeing the 128 because of that. I have seen that before.

yea DoG i thought that was true till it happened to my mobo.

sooo strange !!!

i have already got a PC133 256MB RAM. just cpla days ago i purchased another PC133 256MB RAM and fixed it. the pc gave long beep sounds and never reached BIOS after that. i tried about 5 times but was unsuccsesful. later at the shop, they just loosened and refixed the power cabled in the hdds and shit like that. also did everything what i did. and also said my older RAM was corroded a little. however, they made the pc boot again.

the bizarre thing happens now:
we fixed the RAM chips and came with 384MB as total

then, i thought it should be a problem with my mobo (but still it supports upto 768M so i fixed the new 256MB by itself. then the total RAM showed as 128MB (half of the new RAM). tried in different slots but still the same

the mystery is i already have 256MB installed in my pc. but this new RAM gives me trouble.

i can't blame the new RAM chip either: i tested it in another pc, and it detected it as a 256MB RAM !!!

this is a problem which is unique between my mobo and the new RAM

how can u explain this?

pls help
