Gateway's PC shipments declined substantially in the US market in the second quarter of 2007, and the shipment declines would add more pressure on Acer to strengthen its presence in the US through its planned acquisition of Gateway, according to sources at Taiwan PC makers.
Gateway saw its PC shipments in the US decline 15.66% sequentially to reach 964,000 units in the second quarter, dragging the company's share in the US PC market to 5.6% for the quarter, down from the 7.0% in the previous quarter, according to data released by International Data Corporation (IDC).
