Lindows.com, Inc. today announced a license with AOL Time Warner to ship Netscape branded mail, browser and Instant Messenger software. LindowsOS users will now enjoy an out-of-the box experience based on the Netscape software suite. Default desktop configurations include Netscape browser email and chat as the primary standard software. In addition, easy-to-identify icons are prominently displayed in the interface which directly launches Netscape Mail, Netscape Browser and Netscape Instant Messenger programs.
Lindows.com engineers worked with AOL Time Warner engineers to customize Netscape 7.0 for bundling with LindowsOS beginning with Version 2.0. The result is an icon driven experience which enables LindowsOS users to connect directly to AOL Mail, Chat and Instant Messaging over broadband, the fastest growing segment of Internet usage.
Now you can check your AOL e-mail without even logging onto AOL. The LindowsOS mail client has many more features than the standard AOL mail. For example, users can create local folders to store e-mail messages, address books, draft e-mails, plus more. The spell checker automatically scans email prior to sending. Users can also create filters to block out junk mail and retrieve AOL e-mail on all accounts simultaneously. AOL mail on LindowsOS also has fast scrolling and an enhanced Quick Search field that allows users to find an e-mail address or message within the users e-mail inbox with lightning-fast speed.
Netscape Browsing lets users have quicker-than-ever browsing capability as well as tabbed browsing, a handy tool which lets you keep track of multiple sites by letting you view them in a single browser window. Netscape's Click- to-Search initiates a search based on any word in a Web page neatly revealing search results in a new browser window and in the users customizable "My Sidebar." Optimized upgrades with Netscape make browsing the Web easy and productive. Learn more about LindowsOS and AOL Time Warner's easy set-up by visiting.
LindowsOS 2.0 with Netscape 7.0 is now available to Lindows.com Insiders or to Walmart.com customers for $199. Walmart.com customers who've purchased LindowsOS computers, ranging from $199 to $599, will be able to Click-N-Run LindowsOS 2.0 at no charge.
