Started happening about 3 weeks ago, when starting cold boot, the fan screeches like crazy for about 2 minutes and the quiets up, about the same time and ever since that day, my monitor flickers randomly 2 flashes on and off each time.

Maybe the fan isn't staying running, didn't check, but this is just during normal operation no heavy 3D gaming ect.

Has anyone had similar problems? This card is under a year old, I am going to see if they will replace it under warranty. Has anyone dealt with them on a warranty matter such as this? What were your results?

My 6 month old Radeon is still "quiet". Keep my fingers crossed.

I thought that many boards have a shut down protection if the fan goes down. My Gigabyte mainboard creates a bleep sound if the fan breaks down and will shut down if I don't act upon it (well so it says in the mainboard notes?).

Well it better had because my tower (sic) is so small I have to take the HD out to put more memory in it. The thing will melt if a fan goes.

I think this video card has a 3 year warranty.

I have had my Radeon Card for 8 months and I had a
problem with the video going out after several hours
of computer use. I sent ATI an email using there support
form and there response helped me fix the problem.

It could also be that you a) do not have enough energy getting to your computer (ie.. not enough voltage)
b) You got some big dust clog in the fan causing it to overheat..
or c) it could be a driver related problem..

In any case I would suggest to get it changed since it is under the 1 year warrenty (if not oem)

or if it is the dust go use a vaccum to suck out and dust clogs

Hope this helps
