Thats because MS rewrote drivers for ATI and put them on the SP, the best way to deal with that is before you apply the SP is to remove your current ATI drivers apply the SP and then put the ATI drivers back in...These new drivers fix alot of bugs, so they say...

Here is my whole story on these drivers.
I used v2.1 with xp pro and I play UT quite a bit, with sp1 clean install the game video got a little shaky, I installed 2.2 after uninstalling 2.1, the screen was all off center and messed up and the game tried to play in a window.
The 2.2 and now 2.3 are suppose to be especially for sp1, I have not tried the 2.3 yet but after my exp. with 2.2 Im not sure I want to.
Bottom line is that so far the game does not play nearly as well on sp1.

I am for a number of reasons thinking of redo my box with non-sp1 again It ran better overall, personally I don't see any good use for sp1
