Which is better corp/Home

Which would be the quicker O/S xp Corp or XP Home i cannot decide which one to install.I have a AMD 1200 and 512mb DDR.Would home be more responsive as it does not have all the overheads that the corp version has

The corp version you are talking about is WindowsXP Pro.

Well if u want all the featuers use WindowsXP Corp. Pro SP1 Final. Thats what you want.

I never try the "home version" but I really like the "pro version"

And if you have the choice, with your specification Go for the "pro version"

I have Home on my Toshiba Satellite Pro, only because it was delivered with it. Have Corp on my main machine and backup laptop. Frankly there isn't any difference if you don't need 2 processors, and some other special features that are outlined on the MS web site.

i went from corp to home, just wanted to try it out. i was really happy with both since i'm just a regular user. 1 thing to note is that you won't be able to run gpedit.msc with xphome b/c it doesn't contain that feature.

also, if you don't have a lagit cd key for your xp home, after you stall SP1, it will ask you to re-register your copy, which is a pain in the butt

Corporate? if you were a corporation (I assume you must be if you have a corporate edition) holding a vlk why would you want to change to a retail copy requiring activation?

go for Corp XP! It is the superset of Home Edition as Paul Thurrot in www.winsupersite.com says. there is no any difference in performance in XP HE and XP PE. i have been using both two editions and i guarentee that

Speed or performance should not be the primary reason for choosing Pro vs. Home edition. The choice should really be dependent on whether or not you need the Pro features:

1. Remote Desktop, a feature found only in Windows XP Professional, lets you set up your computer for connection from any other Windows-based computer.
2. Windows XP Professional is best for people who connect to large networks, such as an office network, since it allows you to join and be managed by a Windows domain.
3. The Encrypting File System (EFS), found in Windows XP Professional but not Windows XP Home Edition, allows you to encrypt your files and folders for added security of sensitive data against theft or hackers. Restricted File Access, also found only in Professional, allows you to restrict access to selected files, applications, and other resources.
4. Windows XP Professional provides more robust options for backing up and restoring data than Home Edition.
5. Some additional features found only in Windows XP Professional are:
- Advanced networking for multiple PC environments
- Internet Information Services (IIS)
- Support for multiple-processor systems
- Support for multiple languages

If you need any of the features above, then the choice is simple: you need XP Pro. The biggest reason, of course, for XP Pro is that Pro is the only one that can be joined to a domain. But if not, then why have the overhead and the Home ed. would be the choice.
