It is req. by M$ to purchase hardware with an OEM CD did you have to or did your vendor let you slide?

No hardware purchase involved. Ordered on internet and had it in 4 days. Even came with a sticker to put on your computer cabinet with the serial number. I wonder if it's a volume serial number ?

Yeah right it's an oem your number should have OEM in the middle like this
