LA Geek Squad guy lands in hot water
Used cameraphone to film girl showering
IT COULD ONLY happen in LA. A Geek Squad technician, Hao Kuo Chi, has been accused in a Californian court of using a cameraphone to videotape a young woman taking a shower.
The woman, Sarah Vasquez, alleges that Chi placed his cameraphone in her bathroom while answering a computer service call back in March 2007.
According to a report in the LA Times, when Sarah stepped out of the shower cubicle, she noticed the mobile phone propped up on her cluttered sink and that it had a small camera with a red, blinking light sticking out.
The quick thinking lass decided to remove its memory card and take it to the local Verizon mobile phone store to see what was recorded on it. "You could see him on the video setting it up," Vasquez told the paper. "I was shocked."
The law suit has come as a bit of a shock to Best Buy through whom the Geek Squad technician had been contracted. "Best Buy was not informed of this action prior to being contacted by the media today," a spokesperson said.
It would have been more embarrassing if the incident had happened in the UK since the Geek Squad is promoted heavily by the Carphone Warehouse. The INQuirer
