Processing key extracted
A HACKETTER OR maybe a hacker has worked out a way of extracting the processing key from a high-def DVD player.
Previous hacks of Blu-Ray and HD-DVD involved extracting the "volume keys" for each disc which is harder work.
The latest hack, by a person who claims to be abloke who goes by the handle of arnezami, builds on work done by Muslix64 and extends it -- now you can break all AACS-locked discs. [Didn't we write this already? Ed.]
Although the AACS DRM took years to develop, and cost billions to design, it was broken in weeks for practically no cost.
Arnezami said that he spent some time studying the AACS papers to give himself some clue. More
