ok well this is reallly really odd. I have the Asus A7V266-E motherboard, and use the onboard cmedia sound. So that means I use the onbard joystick port. I have a Saitek Cyborg 3D Digital joystick. When I plug my joystick in my computer doesn't turn on. LOL I hit the power button and it just fucken sits there. It like powers up, but I just have a black screen and no beeps or anything. I unplug the joystick and turn the computer on. Boots up just fine. I'm like wtf. so I tryed like 3 or 4 times LMGDAO. anyone have any ideas?

damn I guess I stumped everybody. Rocky said he used to have a cmedia card, and everytime he turned on his joystick it restarted his computer lmao. So maybe cmedia is fux0rd or something. maybe I'll get a real sound card some day heh.

Curious - have you checked your settings on the bios? Sometimes there are some funky settings with onboard sound/game devices.

One more thought - if its a USB joystick, you may have to install the USB drivers found on the cd that comes with your motherboard.

try this rad: change what memory addresses and / or IRQ's the onboard gameport is allocated in the bios, i don't know what to tell you to change it to, just change it to something that it isn't on already, LOL, other than that, i don't have any ideas either, those are the only two things i can think of other than buggy hardware, mabye update the bios too

well its not usb its gameport heheh

I'll try the bios thing adam. I'm thinking my mobo is kinda f*cked up considering it doesn't save any bios information when I lose power (yes I changed the bios battery).

I'll let you guys know if the bios settings work. although I don't think i saw anything about the gameport in the bios....

thanks for all the help guys
