AN OBSCURE ENGLISH soccer team is being sponsored by American firm Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
Blackburn Rovers is sponsored by UK computer firm Time, which sells a lot of AMD-based computers.
But while Time will continue its sponsorship, said a spinner from Blackburn Rovers, shirts worn by the valiant lads in the gladiatorial soccer arena will sport an AMD logo slap bang in the middle of the shirt.
The soccer team said in a statement that the two types of shirts will be worn both home and away.
And of course you can buy the designs if you feel like cheering the lads on.
British soccer is a very fannish, clannish phenomenon. AMD sponsoring one particular team rather than just advertising on the side of the pitch, as it's been doing for some time, could be a sponsorship deal too far for supporters of other soccer clubs.
