wot, say that again. Use the forum search option to read all about this issue, or type your question, without the 'FC...', into google for a bit of fun maybe.

Maybe the exact answer to your question? But there are better guides on various forums

You could do the workaround, or to have more piece of mind with any future releases you could just change the key and then install SP1 without a hitch.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > ProductId
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > WindowsNT > CurrentVersion > ProductId
Change the Product ID identically

Ihave a question and I am not a very smart user of computers. I have read the how to input sp1 on corporate, however it says too use another key. I have tried running xpfixkeys many time and I get other key codes, some of which I test and it says they are valid, but when I try to change the keys with one that says it's valid, it won't take it?Now I haave read how to do the install of sp1 with corporate key fckgw etc. and in step 4 it says to type in your new product key? and then it says your corp product key. this is confusing to me. I guess when you get old and senile things are haeder to understand. I'm 70 ,
thanks for any response.

To Billmex -- first --- are you generating XP PRO keys or Corp keys -- it makes a difference. Second --- Why are you worried about installing SP1 ? Listen -- at 70 years old enjoy LIFE !!! Don't be woried about installing some stupid security upgrade patch from a company who's only concern is getting YOUR hard earned MONEY !!! GO FISHING !!!!
