ok..
can *ANYONE* explain cellular phone plans to me????

Ok..here is what we want:

We need 3-4 phones. W/ seperate #s.

Sharing the minutes. U know...the Family plans.

I want to be able to call my friends in California, freeeeeeee.

Free nighttime/weekends.

I wanna be able to go outta town and still recieve/send calls.

Text messaging is ....not a necessity, but it would be nice. .

I wanna be able to download (or put in) ring tones. I wanna ignore calls just so I can hear a song .

We really dont need A LOT of minutes. Its mainly for emergencies, "whats for dinner?" type of stuff.

the phones need to be able to call each other.

..uhm...i think thats it.

So...anyone know how to decipher what I want into Cell Phone Plan language?

I've gone to Sprint, Verizon and Cingular websites...but its all confusing.
I dont plan on dealing w/ sales people, yet.

Thanks

Hehe, all swings and roundabouts is mobile phone plans. Sheesh, and i thought England was difficult enough to decide. I could help if you were living there!

Text messaging comes as standard surley nowadays.

If I were you i'd look into voicestream. Their family plan is really good cept my family isn't to impressed with the service. If you want better service i'd suggest AT&T or Verizon. Don't bother with the websites, talk to a sales person, they explain things and just make things crystal clear about the plan. Just dun ferget about the small words on the pamphlets and stuff =)

Agreed. Signal quality with Verizon is the best. @Betaguy, you don't have to buy your phones at Verizon to use the service. BTW, I bought a Moto Startac used for $15 that was in mint condition. Also one for $15 for my daughter too that was mint. Hers was originally $80, mine originally $120. If you want a cheap phone and don't mind used, ask in the stores.
