Need to identify some hardware
I got a LG DVD Burner for christmas last year and I can't remember the specs or write speed on it! is there anyway I can identify it without taking the drive out? I dont really want to take the case apart and the drive out! I'm just not to motivated on doing that right now!

Any suggestions, and device manager just identifies it as IDE1004 039

PCTech

edit:
would ASPI not being installed right make a difference on burn speed and cause the drive not to identify itself? maybe I need drivers?

Most burning apps should tell you something about your drive. NTI CD maker tells you your firmware version in parenthases. EG: TDK 4800B (s7s8).

Down a demo if you need it (ntius.com).

the drive was listed just like this in nero 6.3 DVDRW1004 (0039), and I took the drive out and it was a DVDRW1004IM, so i went to the btc website and got a firmware upgrade for it to take it to 0151 (quite an upgrade!) added lots of media support for me and some other things! thanks for all the help betaone, and I tried all the solutions and all of them worked!

Thanks
PCTech
