I was a network Admin for the government for 2 years, and have over 6 years experience with computers, but no degree. Currently I work in a warehouse making 9$/hr and work a second job at a local resturant trying to help mywife and I get by, she also works at a church daycare. I'm looking for a new career field, I dont want to have to go to school for 5 years to start a new job, something that I can get into in maybe a year or so, maybe sooner. I just feel like the bottem fell out of the tech field, and I haven't been able to get back in!
I know benefits are a must have, as I dont really have good ones at this time. Can someone point me in the right direction? Which of the below are good career options?
Police Officer (Local or State?)
Fedex Driver
If you can think of another career option please let me know, i just need some advice on which way to go!

Seeing the 2 you have listed, i would choose Fedex. Why? I Police Officer has a very interesting job but also very STRESSING and they really don't get paid enough for the risks that are involved.
Fedex, My wifes sister and her boyfriend both work at fedex and make a pretty decent dollar and are not stressed out
Just a thought, hope your fortunes change.

Well I would check out the tech schools around you and see what they have to offer. Thats if your still interested?
Here there are tons of 1 or two semester certification programs. Thats really what you should be doing and what I will be doing after I get my degree first.

War suggested tech schools. They offer a quick degree, often in approx 2 years, but it often comes at a high price, upwards of 30,000. It may be fairly difficult to get a Fedex driving job, usually they are a senority position, you have to work up to be a full time employee first then work up to being a driver. I understand that they make decent money.
As far as being a police officer, it often requires a degree, and then the time you have to spend at the accademy. I would assume that you would start out at about 30,000 a year; 15.00 an hour. There is a lot of opportunity for overtime if you are in a large city... the job can be stressful, but also rewarding.
I would suggest checking out local government jobs, city, and county. If you make a trip down to city hall they usually have posted jobs and a place where you can fill out an application, they may also have the job listings for other surrounding cities, assuming you are in a larger metropolitian area. Maybe try monster.com or hotjobs, you may find something that you were not aware that was out there. Good Luck!!
Ps: halliburton is hiring if you want to go to Iraq. you make a lot of money and it is tax free. Just a thought..

You could also try doing a quick search here and see if there is anything in your area. www.dcchourlyjobs.com

Think "Geographic Protectionism".
You can buy a KIA but can you ship it to Korea to get a $10 tune up?
We're talking Auto Repair, Plumbing (home ownership is at record levels), Day Care, ALL Medical services (Dentistry, Nursing, Radiology etc.) These jobs can NOT be "out-sourced". There are many more and though they may not pay as much as "tech" jobs (some do) they are MUCH more secure.
Now, nobody gets "rich" working at a day care center or rotating tires at Pep Buoys, but, if you're young enough to seriously consider a careerer change, getting into one of the above now may give you the experience to start your own business before you know it.
There are also management positions in the above fields that provide a comfortable living.
Good luck.
