BetaONE 5.0.0 is due for release on March 14, 2002. Here is a preview of what we are planning for the new version.
NOTE: This will be updated regularly as we revise and add to our plans
- [NEW] BetaONE will be unveiling a new ticker with news from the leading technology sources around the world, such as CNET, TechTV, and Wired, as well as others.
- [NEW] BetaONE will debut BetaLINKS, a link exchange program with all of the beta sites we can get ahold of. This will give BetaONE users, and users of the linked sites, a full beta experience from any beta site.
- A new TAB-BASED interface! The new interface will give BetaONE a tabed interface bar at the top, with other info in a right-handed sidebar.
- A "headline only" display that looks similar to that of download.com
- [UPDATED] Advertisement system. BetaONE will begin placing advertisements on its site. These advertisements will come in the form of text links and banners on our pages (non-intrusive).
- [UPDATED] Tightly integrated chat. BetaONE will fully integrate its IRC channel into the site. We will be holding exclusive live chats from time to time, and will also have some IRC-only offers for users.
- [UPDATED] Program Add-Ons. Currently in the works are three main projects. Firstly, we have BetaCHAT, a console chat program that lets users join the main BetaONE chatroom, or join a sub-room that fits their interest. Users can also create their own rooms. Second is the BetaCONSOLE, a small download that lets you check the latest posts, read the latest news, and launch the other BetaONE programs all within one program. Last, but not least, is the BetaONE Chatlist. This Windows Messenger addon will let users communicate directly with the BetaONE moderators and administrators.
- [UPDATED] Free BetaONE e-mail! With version 5.0.0, you can get your own @betaone.net e-mail address! Fully featured, free e-mail.
- [UDPATED] BetaONE Reviews. BetaONE is alerady assembling a special team of software and hardware anylists that will rate the latest beta releases, and final release of software and hardware.
- BetaONE will debut a site, as stated above, with tabs and the like. What will also be new in this site is that BetaONE will use a rich design with a graphical yet streamlined interface.
