Just installed Win2K on a P2-233 w/96MB and 30GB. Installed SP4, then tried to use Windows Update. After clicking "Scan for Updates" it froze. IE6 was "not responding". I saw another post dealing with this, it suggested deleting Windows Update\V4 dir, and Windows Update files in SYSTEM32 dir. I also updated IE6, which didn't help. Any ideas? Only app loaded so far is NAV2002.

Thanx in advance...

After waiting for three minutes, the update fails and tells me to check the system time, which happens to be correct.

Dudelive is an unknown quantity at this point
I am not sure but it seems as though you may be trying to push your luck with what you are using, sorry to say. I just tried the update site and got the directX update with no problems on a spare computer here PentIII 1000 mhz. also updated a second one 466 celeron ( used for watching TV ) and it updated but was real slow.

So it might be that windows 2k is too much for the machine.
Sorry, could not be of more help

Thanks
Dudelive

I am getting a error msg 0x800c0008 telling me to check the system time. I googled the error # and found I have a certificate that is expired (on 1-7-04) or something.

Minimum processor for 2K is P1-133 and 128MB, and I have only 96MB, so I'll have to find some 72 pin memory for this box. It's just for file storage, so don't need anything fancy, and I didn't want to use 98.

Thanx

I just re-installed win2000 from scratch, and before I added SP4, I tried running Windows Update. I got an error telling me WU might be busy and try again later. Seems like I might have a bad Win200 install, I'll look for another install copy.
