Can I reuse motherboard?
I have a old P4.. where the CPU had mulfunction, and their is a burn mark on the chip, (needs to be replaced) and on the socket..

Can I reuse the motherboard, or purchase a new motherboard/cpu combo (Soyo/Intel P4 original stats). I wanted to use this as my new station, but I guess I can't.

Since the picture is not to clear, I can only guess...

If you only have some burn marks, and nothing on the socket has melted,
leaving all the pin-holes intact, you should be able to reuse the MB.

What happend, was the CPU cooler failing ?
If the CPU was getting fried by a problem with the MB, you might fry the next one as well.....

Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything. 14% of people know that.

basicly what bearcat said, its hard to know for sure, but if the problem was just a cooling problem the MB is probably find and you just need to replace the CPU and FIX the cooling problem.

if it was caused by the MB then you might fry the next CPU
