Suddenly, for the past month Power Quest Drive Image v.6 takes about 20 seconds to start up.

Running WinXP Pro on an Asus A7XV8 mobo
AMD 2100+
1GB Ram

The spash screen comes up then the 20+ second wait. During this time the CPU usage stays at 100%, but there is 700MB of available RAM. I installed the Q815411 patch. No difference.

When the program finally starts up the it functions correctly. Running from DOS, does not poduce any unusual performance.

Everything else is functioning correctly, although today while burning a half dozen cdr's using Nero 6, there was what seemed to be some kind of slow down in the program closing down when I aborted a burn. Rebooted. OK. Not sure if it's related. InCD 4.0.1.7 is installed.

A week ago, I thought it PQDI wouldn't start, so I installed Ghost 2003 and made a back up on the theory that things were getting buggy. Ghost 2003 performed normally. It was after that that I discovered PQDI would start up if I waited a longer. I uninstalled PQDI version 6 and reinstalled it. No change. Defragged c:\ which was 24% fragged. No change.

Anybody got any ideas or have a similar experience? At

Next Day:

There are some definate Nero issues involved. Just burned my first coaster with Nero 6 and it took a full minute for Nero to run through completing the fail menu. Hmmm. May have to go back to an earlier image and reinstall that wonderful Office 2003.
