Steven Bink, a Windows 2000+XP MCSE and MVP from Amsterdam, The Netherlands writes...

Microsoft moved its update server to linux according to this report, and so changed IP to AKAMAI one of the largest hosting companies (which MS invested in too)

But maybe it is a linux device in front if the server to protect the server from attack.

They did this because the worm is supposed to target MS's update site specifically, so that people cant fight it off.  The worm has no affect on Linux, so that is why they had to start running the update site off of a linux box.

Nothing against Microsoft. It's just funny how Microsoft hasn't got any other alternative than depending on an open source operating system created by a teenager back in 1991. It's because this worm is a treat to all the NT versions of Windows, Microsoft have ever made.
We all know that Microsoft used to look at Linux in a corner eye.
