ok i installed bootxp so i could change my boot screen, but after using it i decided i didn't like how it did it. So i uninstalled it. Restarted and it still does the same thing. Before it gets to the boot screen, it makes me select which OS I want to use. (Note: i only have xp installed). It gives me two options of xp to start with.

I tried just editing out the second option in boot.ini file, but after i restarted and looked at it again, it still shows the line in there.

How do i get this thing back to booting normally without having to press any key to continue or wait on the dang thing to start?

thanks.

that is the default execpt for the 7 seconds. Default it is Zero second detect actually an unchecked box, it is only when you have multi-os that you would see more than one or when you have changed you boot screen and the program adds the second so that you can still boot if anything goes bad. The default setting is Zero for solo OS.

here's what mine looks like:

Code:
[boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /KERNEL=LOGOOS.EXE multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="(Backup Line) Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
(1) now do i edit out this one:
Code:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /KERNEL=LOGOOS.EXE
(2) or this one:
Code:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="(Backup Line) Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

I would first make backup copies with with the various choice. My first try would be to delete #1 AND remove the words [/b]
(Backup Line) [/b]

Phogphire is correct about the delay - I usually run a dual boot and have kept the daly for person reasons. I thik the default is 30 seconds, though.

Just set the delay to 0 seconds and remove this line :

Code:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /KERNEL=LOGOOS.EXE
From this line:

Code:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="(Backup Line) Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
remove this part:

Code:
(Backup Line)
save and reboot, you will see it works like a charm again
